Students majoring or minoring in speech and hearing science, students with a bachelors degree in speech and hearing, or students in the post-baccalaureate speech and hearing science certificate program can complete additional coursework and clinical training to enable them to practice as speech-language pathology assistants. This credential is primarily intended to help you build the skills, knowledge, and understanding to pursue a career as a certified speech-language pathologist. The Speech-Language Pathology Leveling Certificate is designed for individuals who have completed or are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an area other than Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology. Students are enrolled for August intensive, fall year 1, spring year 1, summer year 1, fall year 2, spring year 2, and summer year 2. The program consists of an initial summer intensive session beginning in early August and ends in late July two years later. The SLP program is a 2-year (24 month) program that culminates in one or two internships as well as the successful passing of the comprehensive exam or completion of a thesis.
